The Raven and the Three
Day 63 — Müllrose
Wake-up feel: 6.
04:23. First light, birds already singing, the sun just below the horizon. Out into the cool air, exercises. The sounds of Müllrose beginning — no Bodden, no wind off the water, no fisherman, no sound of the engine. Cars in the distance. People on their way to work.
No walk prepared. Frankfurt (Oder) first — the train station coffee shop, electricity, a table.
A raven in the tree above the tent. Croaking and croaking — the old sound of this landscape. Brandenburg, the Schlaubetal, sandy soil and pine: ravens have marked departures here long before towns had names.
In the north they carry thought and memory. One on each shoulder. They always leave before you do.
This one flew off as I stepped away.
My thoughts returned to yesterday. Coming out of the co-working space at the university, three former students of the school where I taught. All friends of Sini. They knew my situation. They asked how I was doing. Their thoughts were with Julika.
It was warm in the way that catches you off-guard.
They gave me hope that there are people who are still human. Youth who are defining the future.
I am still in the process of being human again.
Root day. The Moon in Earth — consolidate, draw down, make the base deep enough that what comes next can hold. Not the day to open. The day to lay the root.
Sixty-three days in. The pilgrimage is asking: where do you put them?
At 23h the Moon enters Libra. Air. Flower. What the root day prepared, the night begins to open.
