Day 15 — The Sky Kept Its Options Open

Phase 3 — Movement — Gut Nisdorf, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

By mid-morning the sky was fully clouded. No blue, no direction. April on the Baltic coast keeping its options open.

I noted it on the walk back from the garden and thought: we could turn this into a post this evening.

The day had already given enough. The first walk of Phase 3 at sunrise — cold east wind, a winding road between the Bodden and the fields, hundreds of swans lifting off their night roost. The sound before the sight. The white mass of them rising, organizing, finding their direction.

By afternoon the sky was flat and grey. Possible rain. Possible snow. The landscape not yet decided, the way April sometimes isn't. The way some things aren't.

I walked to the garden. Did what the ground asked. Came back.

Around 18h the sun came back. The kind of return that promises something. I thought: there may be an amazing sunset tonight.

Then Achim and Ina arrived home. The community reconvened. The table was set. Supper happened — conversation, warmth, the ordinary extraordinary fact of people eating together after days apart.

I missed the sunset.

There is something in this I am not going to over-explain.

The sky kept its options open all day. So did I. And then life simply arrived — not as interruption but as the thing itself — and the sunset happened without a witness, or with whatever witness it found on its own.

Phase 3 is Movement. Walking with no destination. The walk deciding more than the plan.

The sunset decided without me. That seems right for Day 15.
