Family
Family or Gemeinschaft?
Wake-up feel: 6.
Woke at 03:35, the birds already awake. Dozed a few minutes more. The body and the mind ready for the day.
Out first into the cold water of the swimming pond. Exercises. Then onto the winding road — the Bodden and the reed fields to the left, the rapeseed and the rising sun to the right.
Before the threshold the cuckoo, calling and calling. Past the threshold, silence.
Cool fresh air. Blue sky. The sound of the waterfall. The Bodden moving.
A Leaf day, the Moon still in Pisces — the water quality holding through the whole day. Tomorrow it turns: the Moon into Aries, Leaf into Fruit.
The road left me with my thoughts. Yesterday, home. Last night, and again this morning — family. What is family. A fiction built from everything lived since we were born? A need? What was family, what was clan, to the cultures who lived here in times past? What was family for Ritter Johannes von Nisdorf (Johannes de Ost de Neslestorp), 1302? Yesterday I wrote that home is not the roof. Is family the same — not the form, but the bond a roof neither makes nor unmakes? And today, at Gut Nisdorf — has it become Gemeinschaft, or was it always?
"Seven places were on the table. The number was never the question. Now I am listening, the direction has been read. I am here to serve, with. The needs of the people who have been close to me all these years belong in this too."
