Why Do You Do This

Day 42 — Morning — Gut Nisdorf

Why Do You Do This

Wake-up feel: 6.

Woke at 4:55. The black wolf was already asking its question.

The winding path: Bodden and reed beds to the left, rapeseed in full bloom to the right, the sun just clearing the horizon behind the yellow. A cold breeze from the north-northeast. Someone would call it too cold for May. The landscape registers it as May.

On the Bodden — swans scattered, each with its own space, not grouping. Just there.

Deeper along the path, the alley of trees: both sides, branches leafing out, the road narrowing into them and the sun breaking through from the east. It seemed magical — not because anything unusual happened. Because it was exactly what it was.

The wolf walked alongside the whole time.

Why do you do this, it said. It would be a lot easier. Spend your days in the garden. In the evening, a glass of wine — forget about your troubles and worries. Enjoy life.

Fruit day. Moon in Sagittarius — no transition today. Fire element, the pull toward the horizon.

The horizon was there. The swans were placed on the water. The alley held its shape.

The wolf was also there.
